Supporting the Support Teams

Education, Training & Engagement - Working with Organisations, Support Coordinators & Care Teams

Pleasure Heals also works with organisations, service providers, support coordinators, support workers, caregivers, and allied professionals to build confidence, clarity, and ethical capacity regarding sexuality and disability.

Our approach is educational and consultative in nature and does not necessarily involve 1:1 client support. Our work with providers is designed to support teams to better understand client rights, organisational responsibilities, and real-world complexities.

Education & Training Topics May Include:

  • Sexuality and disability: myths, realities, and human rights

  • Consent, capacity, communication, and supported decision-making

  • Navigating risk, duty of care, and dignity of risk

  • Responding to client questions, disclosures, or requests around sexuality

  • Understanding trauma, nervous system responses, and behaviour

  • Professional boundaries and ethical practice

Consultation and engagement sessions are collaborative and reflective, offering space for discussion, real-world scenarios, and facilitated questions and answers.

Organisational Consultation & Program Development

We recognise that organisations operate within varied policies, values, funding structures, and safeguarding requirements. Rather than offering a one-size-fits-all model, we work collaboratively to:

  • Understand your organisational context and challenges

  • Identify gaps in education, policy, or staff confidence

  • Co-create training, resources, or guidance materials

  • Support ethical, realistic responses to intimacy-related needs

Our intention is not to increase risk, but to reduce harm through education, clarity, and informed practice.

Partnerships & Ongoing Development

Pleasure Heals is committed to working collaboratively with:

  • Commonwealth and State Government Departments (including the Victorian Department of Health and the Department of Families, Fairness and Housing)

  • Local Government Authorities

  • NDIS networks and providers

  • Disability advocacy organisations

  • Not-for-profit disability support organisations

We are committed to continuous learning, ethical reflection, and accountability. Our core focus remains: enhancing accessibility, embodied autonomy, community participation, and connection to self.

Similar to how queer people expand and upend notions of family and sex, disabled people push and create our own ideas of intimacy.
